KUALA LUMPUR: National young women’s singles shuttler Lim Zhi Shin pulled off a sensational victory against seasoned player Siti Nurshuhaini Azman to be crowned as the National Under-21 (U-21) Championships 2025 champion in Kuantan, Pahang, yesterday.
According to a statement by Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), the final held at the Pahang Badminton Association Hall saw the 17-year-old display remarkable resilience as she weathered through a rubber set duel that lasted 75-minutes to stun the Selangorian 21-19, 17-21, 21-19.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles final, Penangite Tan Kean Wei prevailed against BAM’s Roslie Razeeq Danial, 21-18, 13-21, 21-10, in 55-minutes.
On the other hand, BAM pair Faiq Masawi-Lok Hong Quan won the men’s doubles title as they came from behind to defeat teammates Loh Ziheng-Tan Zhi Yang 18-21, 21-18, 21-19.
BAM duo Carmen Ting-Ong Xin Yee had no problems to ease past Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu from Johor, 21-19, 21-7 to secure the women’s doubles title while BAM pair Wee Yee Hern-Chan Wen Tse claimed the mixed doubles title as they trounced teammates Loh Ziheng-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan 21-11, 21-16. – BERNAMA.
