S INGER Zaki Yamani revealed that he has always wanted to sing a duet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The 17-year-old son of pop king Datuk Jamal Abdillah finally had his wish fulfilled last Saturday when he sang Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s hit song “Azizah” with Anwar at the Malaysia Madani Hari Raya Open House in Dewan Al Muktafi Billah Shah, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) in Kuala Terengganu.

“Alhamdulillah. I finally got to meet the PM face-to-face and sing a song with him. It has been my dream, and that has finally come true today!

I’m a happy man!” Zaki said in a post-event interview. “I’ve always known that the Prime Minister and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, love P. Ramlee’s iconic song ‘Azizah’.

So I spent two hours memorising it before the show.” Zaki added that while it was an honour to sing with Anwar, what truly moved him was seeing many of the 15,000 guests sing along with them.
