MIRI: Dennis Ngau, a member of the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak board, has encouraged the younger generation to actively pursue higher education, given the formidable challenges and competition prevailing in the job market.
Dennis, who is also the Telang Usan assemblyman, stressed that the youths should seize the opportunities offered by the Sarawak government’s digitalisation initiatives.
“I believe that the only way to compete in this digitalisation era is through education,” he said during the Dreams Realized (PRO-DR) roadshow here on Wednesday (Aug 16).
Miri marked the 11th destination of the programme’s tour, which is set to conclude in Lawas on Aug 18.
“Actively pursue higher education as the employment market is growing increasingly challenging. Having a degree will significantly enhance your career prospects,” he advised.
The event saw the participation of 28 education institutions, both public and private, offering information and insights to the attendees throughout the one-day event.
Dennis also advised students to make informed decisions when selecting their courses. He stressed the importance of parents and teachers playing a pivotal role in guiding students to choose courses that align with the demands of the job market.
Melissa Labut, representing the Miri Resident, and Mohd Shukri Arabi, the event’s community programme manager, were also present.
