SIBU: The 19-year old youth, who was on the run after stabbing an officer of Sibu National Anti-drug Agency (AADK) on Sunday with a knife, has been caught.

Raymond Bakak Kinsing of Bandar Permai Jaya, Miri fled after stabbing the 38-year officer at 8.30pm on Sunday.

Besides grabbing the victim’s wallet which contained his identify card, ATM card and money, he also drove off with his motorcycle.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm. Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said Raymond was arrested at 1pm on Monday by two auxiliary policemen of Samalaju Park in Bintulu.

“The suspect was caught while acting suspiciously as he was riding out of the park. Upon inspection by the two auxiliary policemen, they found on him a knife, the victim’s wallet with his personal documents,” he said.

According to Stanley, the suspect has admitted running away from the agency’s Cure & Care Service Centre (CCSC) in Jalan Ulu Lanang after stabbing the victim on his chest while he was resting in a restroom.

“He has confessed driving the victim’s motorcycle to Bintulu,” he said.

On the motive of the attack, Stanley said the suspect wanted to escape from the centre where he was being rehabilitated for drug addiction.

“The suspect had voluntarily applied to be rehabilitated at the Miri Cure & Care Service Centre (CCSC). As the Miri centre was full already, he agreed to be placed at the Sibu centre for three months from July 8 to Oct 7,”he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and Section 397 of the same code for robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.
