KUCHING: A youth was arrested by police after he was found in possession of drugs near Kampung Bintawa Hilir here on Wednesday.
Kuching Police District chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the 23-year-old was picked up by a team from the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) at the roadside near the village at around 12.30pm following a public tipoff.
He said the suspect was found with a bag containing five plastic packets and 14 straws filled with crystalline substance, believed to be syabu, with an estimated weight of 7.11 grammes, and 24 Eramin 5 tablets. The estimated street value of the drugs is RM1,759.
Abang Ahmad said the suspect tested positive for drugs and had been detained to facilitate investigation under Section 15(1) and 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
