MIRI: A 4.5-foot long juvenile crocodile was rescued from a monsoon drain at a housing area in South Lake, Permyjaya here last night after being sighted by a security guard.

A Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) team rushed to the scene upon receiving an emergency call at 9 pm.

“Upon arrival, we found the juvenile crocodile stuck inside the drain and it was quite aggressive,” said an APM spokesman.

APM personnel eventually managed to calm down the crocodile after covering its eyes with a cloth before securing it.

The team was assisted by Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) personnel.

It was then handed over to the SFC for further action.
