KUCHING: The “Mini & Youth Program” in Miri is vital for developing young rugby talent, teaching fundamentals, fostering teamwork, and promoting fitness.

Miri Division Rugby Association (MDRA) vice president Faqrul Hafiz Abu Bakar said the mini and youth rugby programmes focus on introducing children to the fundamentals of rugby in a fun and supportive environment.

“These programmes emphasise skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect, while developing basic techniques like passing, tackling, and running.

“They cater to various age groups, typically ranging from 4 to 18 years old, and help young players build confidence, physical fitness, and a love for the sport,” he said to Sarawak Tribune today.

He added that these programmes are essential for nurturing future rugby talent and fostering a positive, inclusive sporting community.

The programme is held every Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm at the Miri Indoor Stadium and every Sunday at the Kelab Rekreasi Petroliam (KRP) from 4.30 pm to 6 pm.
