KUCHING: Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) has donated RM300,000 to the Sarawak government to aid flood victims affected by the recent severe flooding in the state.

The donation, part of YKN’s Bantuan Bencana Banjir Sarawak 2025 initiative, was made possible through collaboration with corporate entities and concerned individuals.

The financial aid was officially handed over byWomen, Family, and Community Development Minister and YKN chairperson Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri to Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who also chairs the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBNS), in a ceremony held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday (Feb 13).

According to Nancy, the donation reflects YKN’s solidarity and commitment to supporting both the Sarawak government and those affected by the disaster.

“YKN remains committed to supporting the government’s efforts in social welfare, including disaster relief. This donation is channelled through the Sarawak government to ensure comprehensive and targeted distribution in affected areas. We hope it will help ease the burden of impacted families and encourage them to rebuild their lives,” she said.

She further noted that YKN not only provided immediate relief but also focused on post-flood recovery efforts to help affected communities regain stability.

Beyond Sarawak, YKN is also set to extend similar financial assistance to the Sabah government next week as part of its nationwide commitment to aiding flood-stricken states.

“YKN has also provided assistance to flood victims in Peninsular Malaysia through our regional offices, distributing food baskets and essential supplies,” Nancy added.

Meanwhile, YKN chief executive officer Nordina Haron expressed gratitude to corporate sponsors and individuals who had contributed funds, supplies and volunteer efforts.

“YKN deeply appreciates the contributions from corporations and caring individuals. We hope more will come forward to support this noble cause. Together, we can help flood victims navigate these challenging times,” she said.

She also encouraged more companies and individuals to contribute through YKN, highlighting that all donations were eligible for tax exemption.

“All contributions will receive tax exemption receipts. Those interested in donating can contact YKN’s Fund and Corporate Communications Unit for further details,” she added.
