KUCHING: The State Health Department declared a new cluster dubbed the Jalan Lilin Cluster in Miri District today (May 13).
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said this was a community cluster involving a social ceremony – a birthday – held at Jalan Lilin, Taman Tunku in Miri District.
“Of the 262 people, who were screened, 22 including the index case tested positive, 192 tested negative while 48 are still awaiting laboratory test results,” the committee said in a statement today.
It added all positive cases had been referred to Miri Hospital and Limbang Hospital and admitted to the Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) in the districts of Miri and Limbang for the purpose of isolation and further treatment.
“All close contacts have been identified and given quarantine orders,” said the committee.
The health department also declared the end of a cluster, namely the Jalan Sanyan Cluster in Sibu.
With this, SDMC said there were still 83 active clusters in the state and 10 of them recorded a total of 102 new additional cases today.
