KUCHING: Good news for fitness freaks who cannot go without their daily exercises.
Those who want to jog and perform light exercises are allowed to do so – but only in their own neighbourhoods during the extended movement control order (MCO) period which tentatively ends on June 14.
The updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) released by the National Security Council (NSC) last night (May 31) states that except for jogging and light exercises, all other forms of sports and recreational activities are not permitted.
Swimming pools, parks as well as recreational areas are also not permitted to operate during the period.
Prohibited activities that involve the movement of a group of people which makes physical distance difficult to observe include fun run, fun ride, marathon and triathlon.
For the tourism and cultural sectors, tourist attraction spots such as zoos, farms, aquariums, edutainment centres, recreational parks, extreme/adventure/nature parks are not permitted to operate.
The list also includes museums, libraries, art galleries, cultural and heritage centres or villages as well as stage cultural performances.
