Yayasan Petronas donates hand sanitisers, dispensers to schools

KUCHING: Yayasan Petronas has donated hand sanitisers and manual dispensers to 16,634 students in Miri and Bintulu.

The items were distributed through the districts’ Education Department offices to five primary and secondary schools in Miri and six schools in Bintulu, it said in a statement yesterday.

“Among the recipient schools in Miri are SMK Lutong, SMK Tudan, SMK Senadin, SJK Chung Hua, Lutong and SJK Chung Hua, Pujut in Miri.

“As well as SK Tg Batu, SK Kidurong, SK Kidurong II, SMK Kidurong, SMK Asyakirin and Kolej Vokasional in Bintulu.”

Petronas Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali said the national oil and gas company would remain committed in enriching the lives of the
communities in the areas of its operations.

“We encourage the practice of proper hand hygiene among students, teachers, staff and visitors following the reopening of the schools.

“We hope that our contribution will reduce the risk of students contracting Covid-19 in line with the government’s target of minimising the number of new cases,” he said in them statement.

The foundation has also distributed the items to primary and secondary schools in Johor, Kedah, Labuan, Melaka, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu, through each respective State Education Departments.

This initiative is part of Yayasan Petronas’ contribution of critical medical equipment and supplies worth RM20mln to aid the country’s hospitals, healthcare frontliners, and high-risk groups in mitigating the spread of Covid-19.
