THE Xiaomi 15 series is set to welcome its most advanced model yet as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra officially launched alongside the production-ready Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in China on February 27. The smartphone landed in Malaysia last weekend.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra: cutting-edge camera capabilities
The highlight of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is undoubtedly its powerful camera system. Like its predecessor, it features a Leica co-engineered quad-camera setup housed in a prominent camera bump. The main camera is equipped with a 1-inch 50MP sensor paired with a Leica Summilux optical lens, while the standout feature is its new 200MP super telephoto camera — a 1/1.4” sensor offering incredible detail and clarity.
The periscope telephoto lens supports 200mm and 400mm lossless zoom, delivering exceptional low-light performance thanks to its wide f/2.6 aperture. Additionally, the device is expected to include a 50MP secondary telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The camera system is further enhanced by Leica’s ultra-low reflective lens glass, which not only improves image quality but also increases scratch resistance by 82.4%.
Design and performance
Beyond the usual black and white colour options, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also be available in a dual-tone black and silver variant, inspired by classic cameras. This special edition features an “Ultra” badge positioned in the top corner, mirroring the styling of Xiaomi’s high-performance EV model.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. While Xiaomi has yet to reveal official pricing, it is expected to exceed RM5,000, given that both the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra launched at RM5,199.
With cutting-edge camera technology and top-tier performance, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to be one of the most sought-after flagship smartphones of 2025.
