KUCHING: MyCekap Belia Programme: The Digital Empowerment Workshop held at the Politeknik Kuching Sarawak (PKS) provides an opportunity for the youth to improve their skills needed for employment.

Information Department in its statement, yesterday noted that the workshop benefited especially the disabled (OKU) and members of Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia.

“The programme was organised by the Cawangan Komunikasi Penghakupayaan OKU (CKPOKU), Bahagian Perkhidmatan Komunikasi dan Pembangunan Masyarakat, Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia led by the head of the CKPOKU Unit, Dr Ruziah Ghazali.

“It is also one of the initiatives combining the cooperation of various parties, to ensure that the target group gets exposure, especially skills in the digital field.

“The content of the workshop is the introduction and application of new media, in addition to practical training in the use of Adobe Photoshop applications and high-impact preparation using Canva.

“It was delivered by a line of speakers and facilitators from Kuching Community College namely Liew Fong Ching, Sulaiman Mohd Shah, Nur Hakim Raifli, Jefferyson Adam, and Laila Najwa Yahya,” said the statement.

Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) and the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) also participated as the strategic partners of the programme to create a special slot specifically for the disabled to match work with employers.

Among the employers who participated in the job-matching session were Saradise F&B Sdn Bhd, 7 Eleven Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd, and AEON.

Also present was the director of the Sarawak Information Department Jaafar Jantan and the director of Politeknik Kuching Sarawak, Hikmatullah Hajid Ahmad Khan.
