KUCHING: The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Strategic Workshop was conducted with the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centre (FMSDC) to boost productivity through talent development and the use of the latest technologies recently.
In her closing remarks, deputy director-general of MPC Dr Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah shared on the Malaysia Productivity Blueprint and its focus on accelerating the implementation of productivity improvement strategies, initiatives and programmes at the national, sectoral and enterprise levels through five strategic thrusts.
She added that this would be of utmost importance in facilitating holistic and systematic productivity improvement.
“In June 2022, the National Oversight Productivity Council (NOPC) approved the appointment of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC) as an intermediary to facilitate joint strategic initiatives between MPC and the industries.
“As such, with FMSDC’s newly minted role as an intermediary, the workshop will focus on various joint public-private initiatives, including strategies to reduce Malaysia’s dependence on foreign labour, the development of upskilling and reskilling programmes in line with industry needs and the use of the latest technologies, the supply chain productivity improvement programme (vendor development programme) and the frontier companies programme,” she highlighted.
Meanwhile, executive director of the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions and Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC) Hallman Sabri commenting on the strategic workshop said that it was an honour for Sarawak Skills to co-organise this strategic workshop with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC).
“Indeed, I must thank MPC for selecting Sarawak Skills as its technology partner for various initiatives and programmes in Sarawak.
“I also wish to thank MPC for facilitating FMSDC’s appointment as an intermediary between MPC and the industries. In addition to Sarawak Skills, FMSDC’s members that participated in this workshop comprised skills development centres from Johor, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Penang, and Selangor.
He went on to share that FMSDC was working closely with its major stakeholders, namely the federal and state governments, and the various industry sectors to develop Malaysia’s skilled talent pool in line with industry needs.
