MUKAH: SK Kampung Petanak at Kampung Petanak Daya here will have a new building, and initial work on the project has begun.

Former headmaster Anselm Asai Sidin, 82, was among the villagers who is delighted with the project.

He said one block of the old wooden school building, which was built in 1957, had been demolished about a week ago.

He admitted that he did not know much about the project, saying: “I learnt that a new two or three-storey building will be constructed soon.”

According to him, whatever had been planned, one thing was certain – SK Kampung Petanak would finally have a new building.

New Sarawak Tribune discovered on Friday (Jan 28) that part of the initial ground work had begun, covering the school’s football field, which had been sacrificed to pave way for the project.

School sessions at the remaining wooden buildings continued as usual.
