KANOWIT: A local woman sustained leg injuries after the bus she was travelling in, skidded out of control and overturned along Jalan Kanowit this afternoon (Jan 12).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Kanowit station were dispatched to the scene, about 5km away, after receiving a distress call at 2.01 pm.
Upon arrival, they found a passenger inside the overturned bus with an open leg wound, and initial treatment was administered to the scene before she was brought out to safety.
The injured woman, whose identity was not known, was later transported to Kanowit Hospital for further medical attention.
Meanwhile, the bus driver and 26 other passengers were able to exit the bus by themselves.
The team also conducted flushing works to clear debris and ensure the road was safe for other road users.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation wrapped up at 3.15 pm.
