MIRI: A woman was among six suspects remanded for seven days until July 6 by the Magistrate Court here yesterday (June 29) to assist police investigations over two separate drug trafficking cases.
Senior assistant registrar Eleanor Mako Timothy meted out the order after granting remand applications by the investigating officer Inspector Liew Wai Leong.
Two suspects aged 30 and 36 were detained during a raid conducted by a Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) team from the Sarawak police contingent headquarters led by Inspector Thonas Untol at a house in Jalan Acacia 3, Shang Garden on June 28 around 4pm.
During the raid, police seized five plastic packets containing a crystalline substance believed to be syabu weighing 4.624kg.
Four others including the woman were detained in a second raid at a house at Jalan Kiambang 6, Tudan around 5pm.
During the raid, police also confiscated substances believed to be syabu weighing 50.02 grams.
The two cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
