KUCHING: The people have been urged to temporarily stop activities such as hiking and camping, especially during this monsoon season.

Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament Datuk Willie Mongin said it is also important to avoid high-risk areas such as highlands and sloping hillsides.

“Please be careful, because it has been raining heavily in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency since Thursday. I am worried that there will be a big flood and an incident of mud flooding.

“Therefore, if possible, temporarily stop outdoor activities such as hiking and camping,” he said in a Facebook post.

Willie also reminded road users to be extra careful on the road as it can get slippery, and they might experience cloudy skies over the road in the Puncak Borneo area.

Meanwhile, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), it is forecast that there will be isolated rain over inland areas during morning and night time on Dec 25 and 26 in the state.
