KUCHING: Sarawak manufacturers have been encouraged to visit a new deep sea port in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, as there are plenty of potential business opportunities.
Sarawak Manufacturers Association (SMA) said this was mentioned by Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching, Raden Sigit Witjaksono during SMA’s recent courtesy call on the latter.
“During the courtesy call, the Consul-General briefed SMA on the development in Indonesia, especially in East Kalimantan, where Nusantara is located.
“He also invited manufacturers from Sarawak to visit the new 6,000ha deep sea port, which will be equipped with a digital system,” SMA said on Monday (May 8).
SMA members were also told to take advantage of the three inland ports between Sarawak and Indonesia borders for business opportunities as well as tourism activities.
Apart from that, Raden Sigit also invited SMA members to attend the International Energy Week, which will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on June 13 and 14, where an investment team will brief the development progress of Nusantara, the new capital of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, SMA extended its invitation to the Consul-General to attend the association’s 60th anniversary dinner on May 13, which will be held at the BCCK.
