KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) contributed RM30,880 to three welfare organisations as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative during Ramadan.

The three welfare organisations were Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (YPM), Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahman Kuching and Pusat Jagaan Huda.

The donation, presented by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi during an iftar event at Grand Margherita Hotel on Wednesday, aims to ease the beneficiaries’ burdens in education and welfare, aligning with SEDC’s goal of empowering today’s society for a better future.

The presence of Wan Junaidi and Fauziah at the event also reflected the state leadership’s commitment to encouraging social welfare and community well-being.

According to SEDC, the corporation also provided a monthly financial aid of RM150 to selected Form 5 students under YPM to further strengthen their education.

“This assistance is intended to alleviate students’ financial burdens as they prepare for crucial examinations and to motivate them to achieve academic excellence, in line with SEDC’s vision of developing a competitive human capital for future generations,” it said in a statement.

Besides that, for the welfare homes under HIKMAH, SEDC contributed daily necessities such as food, school supplies, and computers to support the educational needs and well-being of the residents.

“These donations not only fulfill their basic needs but also provide access to better learning resources, empowering them for a brighter future,” said SEDC.

As an organisation dedicated to Sarawak’s social and economic development, SEDC continues to implement CSR programmes that create long-term positive impacts on the community, in line with the principle of ‘Prospering Sarawak Today for Tomorrow’.

Through initiatives like this, SEDC strives to ensure the community’s welfare is well taken care of today, paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous future.

The event concluded with a meaningful iftar session, where distinguished guests and beneficiaries shared a meal in an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness, embodying the true spirit of Ramadan.
