KUCHING: Man Wei Chong and Tee Wai Kun made history after claiming Malaysia’s first Super 500 men doubles champion title today (Jan 26) since its inception in 2010.
This feat was achieved after the up-and-coming Malaysian pair won 21-11, 22-19 set win against Indonesian duo, Fajar Alfian-Mohd Rian Ardianto in the Indonesia Masters finals.
From this victory, Malaysia took home their second title win at the Super 500 event, with the first claimed by (then) world no. 9 women’s doubles pair, Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei in 2011.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun will receive US$37,525 (RM164,285) as champions, while runner-ups Fajar and Mohd Rian will settle for US$18,050 (RM79,022).
