SIBU: The recent water supply issue in the Durin area was due to a 600mm ductile iron pipe leakage at a location after Durin Bridge, Jalan Durin.

The Sibu Water Board (SWB) in a statement today, said that it had immediately initiated pipe repair efforts upon receiving the complaint.

“However, the repair was delayed due to the depth of the pipe, which made it difficult to locate the leaking point.

“The repair was successfully completed early this morning, and pumping resumed at 4  am,” SWB said.

The water board said that during this period, it actively dispatched water tankers to supply water to the affected areas, particularly those at higher elevations and the endpoints of the pipeline.

“The board values the community’s understanding and seeks cooperation in conserving water through prudent usage during this time,” it said.

SWB added that its tankers will remain on standby to promptly respond to any further water supply needs.
