KUCHING: Senate President Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is heading for a working visit to London and Ghana to represent Malaysia at the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.

In a press release, he said the conference will be held at Accra, Ghana, and will be held on Oct 4-6.

“Prior to participating in the conference, I am scheduled to give invitational talks to Malaysian students at the University of Buckingham and the Malaysian community at Malaysia Hall, London on the topic of Government Transformation and Governance.

“At the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference at Ghana, I will be presenting a paper titled “20 Years of the Latimer House Principles on the Separation of Powers: Is it Working?” to discuss its practices in Malaysia in particular as well as being selected as one the panellists of the workshop session.

“During the conference, a bilateral meeting with Senator Hon. Sue Lines, Australian President of the Senate has also been scheduled,” he said.

In a related development, during his time in London, a courtesy visit has also been arranged with Hon. Lord Syed Kamal, a member of the House of Lords, and his associates.

“Hon. Lord Syed Kamal had visited me in Malaysia and I look forward to an extended fruitful exchange of discussions and thoughts with him and his fellow members of the House of Lords.

“It is an honour for me to represent Malaysia, in particular the Malaysian Parliament and present the practice of Parliamentary Democracy and Constitutional Monarchy in Malaysia,” he said.
