BAU: Voters in Opar have questioned DAP Mordi Bimol’s motive in blaming Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders for his failure to deliver on his election pledges to the people.

They have also been irked by the incumbent’s accusation against Tasik Biru assemblyman, who is also state Transport Deputy Minister, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep on the delay in the construction of Kampung Selampit Bridge.

“What is he (Mordi) trying to prove or is he just trying to distract the people from getting to know the truth, which would certainly jeopardise his chance of defending the seat for his second-term running,” they asked during a Meet-The-People-Session in Kampung Stenggang, Jalan Bau-Lundu hear here.

They particularly questioned the whereabouts of Mordi when his presence and services were crucially needed during the critical time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was none other than the GPS leaders, including Datuk Henry himself, who is not even from Opar state seat that came to offer their assistance, especially with some food rations.  Otherwise, some of us could have even died of hunger.

“Enough is enough. We will not be easily swayed by sweet talk this time around. We have learned our lesson…a bitter lesson.”

Earlier, Henry cautioned the people to vote wisely come Nov 19 polling and not to be easily hoodwinked, by unsubstantiated allegations especially from GPS opponents.

Henry said he found it amusing that Mordi simply put the blame on him when he (Mordi) did not even lift a finger to ensure the project gets off the ground.

“So, what actually has he been doing during the last four years? Has he been sleeping on the job and only appear now in the hope to get sympathy votes by blaming others for his folly?” he said.

Henry said it was rather too late for Mordi and appealed to the people to vote for GPS new face Lidang Disen, who with the help of other GPS leaders, would be able to serve the people better.
