BALINGIAN: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi wants his constituents to give Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) a big mandate in the upcoming state election for continuous development in the area.
He said currently, physical development especially basic infrastructure, was being vigorously implemented in Balingian under GPS led by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“We want to thank the state government and Abang Johari for the development projects implemented for the wellbeing of Baligian people,” he said during the Anjung Selera Balingian ground breaking ceremony at the Balingian Community Hall on Sunday (April 11).
Abdul Yakub said that about 92 percent of the roads in his constituency had been tar-sealed while 91 percent of the longhouses enjoyed electricity coverage provided under the Rural Electrification Scheme (RES).
“There is one village which will also enjoy electricity coverage under the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares),” he said.
Abdul Yakub added that 85 percent of the areas in his constituency also enjoyed water supplies provided by the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB).
“JBALB Mukah is currently carrying out the water supply grid programme in the stressed areas from Mukah, Baligian right up to Bayan Ulu and interior areas at a cost of about RM26.5 million,” he said.
Abdul Yakub said on top of these developments, the state government had approved the construction of roads, bridges, and other important projects.
“I believe that all these projects for the people will not stop as long as GPS continues to lead Sarawak. “So let us give our fullest support to Abang Johari and GPS to continue developing Sarawak with excellence,” he said.
