KUCHING: Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) will be holding a virtual public talk entitled ‘Mental Health during Covid-19 Pandemic and Our Growth’ this Friday from 9.30am until 11am via Zoom.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic started about a year ago, this unprecedented global crisis has affected society in many ways — socially, mentally, psychologically and economically.

“This pandemic has brought many implications and disrupted the daily lives and social norms that we are accustomed to and everyone is still struggling to adapt to the new normal.

“Many intrapersonal and interpersonal struggles have led to several psychological responses. Commonly seen conditions include anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and not to forget grief,” SDI said in a statement.

Dr Bernard Ting, a medical lecturer at the Department of Psychological Medicine, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and also a visiting psychiatrist at Hospital Sentosa Kuching, will be sharing how to address some of the issues faced such as coping with mental stress, depression, anxiety, loneliness, etc. during this unprecedented time.
