SEBUYAU: A surau at Kampung Sungai Ladong here will be upgraded at a cost of RM150,000.

The rural transformation project (RTP) of the Batang Lupar Parliament will be undertaken by the villagers via gotong-royong.

Batang Lupar MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the village’s security and development committee (JKKK) and its Surau Darul Ehsan Committee had agreed to undertake the project.

“This method is a way of empowering the JKKK and allowing them to monitor the implementation especially on the less technical projects.

“With the flexibility given, I hope the JKKK can play an active role in the implementation to complete the project that has been approved,” she said when visiting the RTP project in Kampung Sungai Ladong on yesterday (Sept 19).

She also toured the site of the RM100,000 Medan Niaga Sampat project.

Implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) Samarahan Division, the project is expected to start soon and to be completed within six months.

On the same day, she also visited other RTP projects in the area such as the renovation of the An-Nur Surau Kampung Lot Baru Sebuyau (RM100,000); the renovation of the Sebuyau Development Hall (RM200,000), and the renovation of the SK Tuanku Bagus Sebuyau Building (RM150,000).

“I hope that the contractors who are appointed for the RTP projects in the area will be able to implement the projects in compliance with the specifications that have been set,” she said.
