Villagers receive food aid under RT Cares initiatives

KUCHING: The residents of Kampung Semeba are among those who received food assistance as part of the National Unity Ministry’s (KPN) Rukun Tetangga (RT Cares) initiatives.

In revealing this, National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique explained, “The RT Cares programme is an initiative under the ministry to ensure the community’s survival and well-being during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The initiative is founded on the concept of ‘RT4ALL’, which covers everyone regardless of background differences.”

Halimah was officiating at the RT Cares programme in the Kampung Semeba Multipurpose Hall today (Oct 23).

She added that the initiative had been conducted statewide in 116 districts/divisions and 194 centres.

It was participated by various parties such as government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and other corporate entities.

Meanwhile, at the same function, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang explained that the unity in Sarawak was unique in the country.

“Here, the state government entrusted us with the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) funds to safeguard the well-being of all religions in the country.

“The funds are intended for various non-Islamic religious organisations throughout the state. They support the construction and upgrading of religious houses as well as the development of other infrastructures,” he explained.

Lo hoped the unity in Sarawak could serve as an example for other states.

He also urged the ministry to provide additional funding to support Sarawak’s unity initiatives.

Also present during the programme were Deputy Director-General of the National Integrity and Good Governance Malaysia Noor Azezee Mohd Nasir, director of the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) Dirwana Azool, and RT 4S Chairman Jisin Nyud.
