KUCHING: Police are urging the owners of seven vehicles damaged in a crash outside a bank at 3rd Mile today (Jan 2) to come forward and assist with investigations.
Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah made the request in a statement following the incident, where a BMW veered out of control and crashed into the parked vehicles along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Ahmad Zaidi Adruce.
“Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to visit the nearest police station to facilitate the investigation or contact Investigating Officer Insp Muhammad Amirul Azami Ahmad Rasol at 016-8593994 or 082-259900,” he said.
The accident was believed to have been caused by the negligence of the BMW driver but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In light of this, Mohd Farhan also urged road users to exercise caution and prioritise safety to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all road users.
Last year, a similar chain accident occurred at Pasar Batu 3 on Aug 1.
The driver, an 80-year-old woman, wanted to park her BMW car but mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake.
Her action led to a collision involving 10 vehicles parked at the market’s parking lot.
