KUCHING: Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd has secured a USD20 million (RM87.8 million) supply financing deal with EXIM Bank Malaysia to ramp up production at its smelting facility in Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu.

The agreement, signed at EXPO 2025 Osaka on Monday, marks a strategic boost to Malaysia’s industrial output and is expected to channel capital flows into Sarawak while supporting job creation and infrastructure expansion.

“This will transform our production capabilities and advance the goals of the Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 agenda,” said Pertama Ferroalloys Chairman, Hirotaka Suzuki.

EXIM Bank President and Chief Executive Officer, Nurbayu Kasim Chang, said the facility reflects a broader commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s trade competitiveness and export resilience.

The deal was witnessed by MITI Secretary-General, Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob, and Pertama Ferroalloys General Manager, Yuki Nakamura. – BERNAMA
