ASAJAYA: United States ambassador to Malaysia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir was at SK Sambir here to witness the handover of a project jointly carried out by the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and their American counterparts.

The Pacific Partnership 2019 Engineering Civic Action Programme (ENCAP) involved three schools in Asajaya and Serian – SK Sambir, SK Sebandi Matang and SK Tanah Puteh.

Military personnel from MAF’s 3rd Royal Engineers Regiment and the United States Naval Ship Fall River worked hand in hand to complete the project on April 10.

The mission at SK Sambir involved repairing, constructing and maintaining two classrooms and a storeroom.

At SK Sebandi Matang, team members repaired a 250m-long drain as well as refurbished a toilet, while they repaired and constructed six water tank bases at SK Tanah Puteh.

Also present yesterday were Eastern Field Command commander Lt-Gen Datuk Zamrose Mohd Zain, Mission Commander Pacific Partnership 2019 Captain Randy Van Rossum, First Division commander Maj-Gen Datuk Md Din Abu and SK Sambir headmaster Sufian Basri.
