KUCHING: A sum of RM100,000 has been allocated to fund the upgrading project of Seng Good Garden’s community park.
Implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) Kuching, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang said the upgrading project is aimed at improving the park’s infrastructure, particularly the pathways and open spaces.
According to him, this is to ensure a safer and more enjoyable environment for all users.
He mentioned that one of the key issues raised by the community is the overgrowth of grass over interlocking tiles, which has made the park uneven and difficult to maintain.
“To address this, we will be laying a two-inch concrete layer (BMC) to prevent grass from growing and to create a smoother surface for walking, jogging and other recreational activities.
“Additionally, the project will include widening the existing pathways, ensuring they are more accessible and comfortable for park users.
“We will also improve the drainage system to prevent waterlogging, especially during the rainy season, by deepening and widening the drains.
“This will help maintain the park’s cleanliness and usability throughout the year,” he said in a statement following the commencement of the project today.
Lo said that the design of this project has been carefully considered to meet the needs of the community.
“For instance, we understand that many residents use the park for activities such as tai chi and jogging, and the uneven terrain has been a hindrance.
By levelling the ground and providing a more stable surface, we hope to encourage more residents to engage in healthy outdoor activities.
“Furthermore, we will be creating additional parking spaces to accommodate the growing number of visitors to the park.
“This will make it more convenient for families and individuals to access the park without worrying about parking issues,” he said.
