KUCHING: Any decision to expel PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin from the party would be unwise and ill-considered, said PKR National Women’s vice chief Voon Shiak Ni.

Zuraida is still very much needed by the party and the people, she said.

“Personally for me, Zuraida is one person who is always willing to fight come what may in the best interest of the party and members,” she said during a press conference where she expressed her objection to Zuraida’s possible ouster.

Voon said Zuraida had also been instrumental in fighting for the rights of women, including Penan girls.

According to Voon, Zuraida is not an ordinary leader who “walks her talk”.

As Housing and Local Government Minister, Zuraida had gotten 30 per cent of her women members to be appointed to various positions in both the local government ministry and local councils, Voon said.

“Zuraida is a great asset not only to the party but the country as a whole as she is now an international figure fighting for human rights,” she said.
