KUCHING: The federal government has agreed to accord unrecorded leave for Christian civil servants to observe Good Friday from this year onwards.

Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Datuk Seri Borhan announced this in a letter addressed to both state and federal ministries, departments, statutory bodies, agencies and local authorities.

The letter dated April 17 was also posted on PSD’s official Facebook Page.
Borhan said the unrecorded one-day leave would be accorded to all Christian civil servants excluding those in states which had declared the day as a public holiday.
Sarawak is among the states in the country which has gazetted Good Friday as a public holiday.

Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.
