KUCHING: The ambitious H2biscus Project, which focuses on producing clean hydrogen using renewable energy in Sarawak, is set to benefit both local and international markets.

Executive vice president and head of Sustainable Project Development at Samsung E&A, Sean Chung said a portion of the hydrogen will be utilised within Sarawak, while the remainder will be converted into ammonia and exported to South Korea for diverse applications, including green energy generation.

This significant project, led by Samsung E&A in collaboration with Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) and Lotte Chemical Corporation, aims to reduce South Korea’s reliance on fossil fuels, aligning with its clean energy targets and efforts to cut carbon emissions.

Chung highlighted the project’s dual benefits, which are promoting environmental sustainability and unlocking new economic opportunities in both Sarawak and South Korea.

“This project is an important effort in green hydrogen production in Sarawak, which will be supplied to Korea for green energy generation,” he said.
