KUCHING: Sarawakians are urged to remain vigilant heading into 2025.
With the slowing progress of the global economy, affecting not only Sarawak but Malaysia, Mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Datuk Wee Hong Seng wants everyone to face the challenges together as one.
“Let us view the New Year as a fresh start. We put everyone together and we move forward.
“Most importantly, we need a good teamwork, and build your own confidence and continue to adapt into the new environment at this point in time,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after conducting a walkabout for the Kuching Christmas Heartbeat at the Podium here on Friday.
During his recent participation at the two-day Malaysia’s Sarawak-China Cooperation Forum and Friendship Cities Roundtable Meeting, Wee stated that the international communities shown their interest in Sarawak.
“Imagine 165 delegates paying their way to come here to have a dialogue with us.
“I would encourage Sarawak to grab this opportunity because, after so many years, people are now looking up to Sarawak,” he said.
Wee also stated that Sarawakians must continue to possess the Sarawak spirit and protect the interests of the state
“That is how we can move forward,” he added.
He stressed that Sarawak’s promising future is due to political stability, good leadership, and the unity of its people.
“The most important thing is our political stability and good leadership. If we have both, then we have the unity of the people,” he added.
