KUCHING: Unit Belia Redeems in collaboration with Unit Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) return to organise its annual REDEEMS Youth & Sports Carnival.

Held at Dewan Sukan Redeems Centre in Bau, the two-day saw many activities being held such as futsal, takraw, badminton, netball, aerodance, karoake, seminar as well as health check-up.

Lea Sports Centre (LSC) as the main sponsor for one of the activities namely REDEEMS-LSC Futsal Tournament 2017 supported the tournament by sponsoring trophies, medals, gift vouchers as well as Adidas balls.

According to Unit Belia Redeems chairman, George Abraham, there were more than 600 participants in their annual carnival.

He said by having this kind of tournament, more talented young footballers from rural areas such as Bau can have exposure and an opportunity to play for the state as well as country in future.

“The participation of players in this tournament is an opportunity for them to stamp their mark of football.

“In addition, the top player and top scorer would be awarded with a special trophy and gift voucher,” he said when handing over the LSC sponsorship to Unit Belia Redeems for the REDEEMS-LSC Futsal Tournament 2017 at LSC Sarawak Plaza, here, on Friday.

He added that the carnival aims to promote, implement and provide activities and events to nurture a healthy lifestyle among youths.

“Apart from that, the carnival also aims to develop patriotism among youths and spread the principles of Rukun Negara and provides an opportunity for youth to train themselves in leadership, and entrepreneurial skills that will prepare them to become leaders in future,” he said.

Unit Belia Redeems was established in January 2012 and its membership consists of youths from 12 villages in the Singai area in Bau.
