KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) recently hosted 30 students and two teachers from Yunnan University, China under the Unimas Summer Programme 2019: Culture, Nature and Adventure (CAN).
The 30 students were here for 11 days as the first delegates to Unimas this year attending the yearly Summer Inbound Exchange Programme, from July 14-23.
According to Unimas Global director Azlan Ramli, there would be three batches of delegates this year and Unimas would be focusing on the CAN programme.
The inbound mobility programme designed and managed by Unimas is a well-structured and diverse learning experience for its participants.
For the Yunnan University students, they were from a diverse range of academic backgrounds and they were here to experience the culture and nature of Sarawak as well as interact with Unimas students and communities in Sarawak.
Focusing on the theme, there were field trips, class interactive sessions with Unimas students as well as workshops.
“The field trips were to Sarawak Cultural Village, Fort Margherita, Kuching Waterfront and the museums around Kuching.
“For the nature programme, they went hiking at Bako National Park. They also attended the local cuisine preparation workshop as well as a local craft beading workshop, where they had the chance to show their culinary and beading skills.
“For the community engagement programme, they were at SK St Patrick, Semadang, Padawan where a few corporate social responsibility activities were held together with the teachers and students of the school, as well as the local communities,” said Azlan.
