KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) took a strategic step yesterday (Jan 14) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Pepper Community (IPC).
The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in research, development, and the promotion of business knowledge within the pepper industry.
Unimas Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, stated that the partnership will be implemented based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.
The three-year agreement focuses on three key areas: business knowledge, corporate collaboration, and research.
“Through the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Unimas and IPC will continue to develop initiatives that positively impact students, academia, and the industry,” he said at the signing ceremony here.
Meanwhile, IPC Executive Director, Firna Azura Ekaputri Marzuki, expressed hope that Unimas will leverage the extensive network of international industry players under IPC.
She encouraged the university to invite more global industry leaders to share their expertise through lectures and seminars.
“IPC and its industry players stand ready to support Unimas by providing students with exposure to meaningful and beneficial research projects that will advance the global pepper industry,” she added.
This MoU is expected to lead to new opportunities for Unimas, enhancing its standing as an internationally competitive higher education institution and contributing to the growth of the global pepper industry.
