KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Global successfully organised its annual Ramadan Outreach programme this year at Rumah Seri Kenangan.
In a Facebook post, the university shared that the outreach event saw the involvement of 25 international students from Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, alongside local students.
They worked together to prepare ‘bubur lambuk’ with the elderly residents of Rumah Seri Kenangan.
“Along with this culinary collaboration, the students also assembled 55 Ramadan baskets, which were distributed to the residents as a thoughtful gesture of goodwill.
“The event truly showcased the university’s commitment to sharing and giving during the blessed month of Ramadan,” the post read.
The visit was also attended by UNIMAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, who is an orthopaedic surgeon.
He conducted health check-ups and provided medical advice to the elderly residents.
Dr Ahmad Hata emphasised that this initiative highlights UNIMAS’ dedication to community service.
Three Rumah Seri Kenangan residents with health issues were referred to the UNIMAS PRIMA Health Centre for further treatment, underscoring the university’s strong commitment to the well-being of the community.
