KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy from Unit For Other Religions (Unifor), led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Unifor director Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau at Astana Negeri here, today (Dec 11).
Speaking to the media ater the visit, Uggah, who is the minister responsible for Unifor, said the visit was to present four cheques for Phase 4/2024 Religious Institution Aid Funds.
The aid, amounting to RM800,000, is designated for church upgrading projects in Lundu District that have been approved.
“This contribution is part of the allocation provided by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to Unifor for 2024.
“The churches set to receive the assistance include Chapel St Michael in Kampung Paon, Chapel St Matthew in Kampung Titiakar, St Thomas Church in Kampung Sedaing, and St Francis Church in Lundu,” he said.
Also present during the visit were Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, Unifor deputy director Roslind Embai Kassim; private secretary to Uggah, Hustler Riis; Unifor administrative officer Hoenese Ruebesch Buda Vincent Sawing, Pemanca Benjamin Gersit Jais, as well as Unifor assistant administrative officers Nira Edora and Goh Bee Eng.
