KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) Complex is hopefully set to be fully operational by the third quarter of 2025, pending completion of ongoing office renovations and interior works.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said while the building had obtained its Occupation Permit (OP) in October last year, no tenants have moved in yet due to ongoing renovation work, particularly at the Trust’s Office on the 9th floor.
During a recent visit to the site, he inspected the renovation progress and expressed hope that the Trust’s Office will be ready to welcome representatives of six religious groups very soon.
“We look forward to making the Trust Office a home for everyone,” he said in a Facebook post.
Dr Sim, who also serves as the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, also clarified the common public confusion between Unifor and Unifor Trust.
He stressed that Unifor is a government unit under the Department of the Premier of Sarawak.

“The Unifor Trust is a non-governmental trust body, similar to other private trusts, and owns the newly completed Unifor Building.
“It is understood that Unifor, under the Department of Premier of Sarawak, will rent up to four floors for its new office, relocating from its current location at Wisma Satok.”
Aside from offices, the building will feature modern convention facilities for banquets and meetings in Kuching, which are also anticipated to open to the public by Q3 2025.
The Unifor Complex serves as a landmark of unity and inclusivity, embodying Sarawak’s dedication to supporting its diverse religious communities.
Built on a three-acre site along Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here, the Unifor Complex began construction in 2021 with an estimated cost ranging between RM73 million and RM80 million.
The 10-storey building includes a nine-storey office tower, nine shop lots, a 1,000-seat hall (expandable to 1,200), 285 parking bays and features green building design.
