KUCHING: An unemployed man was fined RM3,500 by the Magistrate’s Court here on Monday (Jul 4) for breaking into a house and stealing a pair of shoes.

Mohd Syafik, 25, pleaded guilty to two charges before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

According to the first charge, he was accused of breaking into the house belonging to a 44-year-old victim.

He was also charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code with stealing a pair of shoes.

Based on the facts of the case, the complainant saw closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and found that a man had broken through the fence of his house.

In the footage, the accused had stolen a pair of black school shoes placed in front of the house.

The complainant then lodged a police and investigations led to the arrest of the accused on June 22.
