KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak continues to make its mark as the Faculty of Business and Management earns recognition from prestigious accreditation bodies, including the Premier Digital Tech Institution, Finance Accreditation Agency and The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

UiTM Sarawak pro-chancellor Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz stated that the achievement reflects the faculty’s commitment to maintaining its relevance as a key contributor and catalyst for global economic growth.

“Alhamdulillah, this success is further supported by a graduate employability index of nearly 90 per cent.

“Congratulations to all involved,” he said at a 100th UiTM convocation ceremony held at the Jubilee Hall, UiTM Kota Samarahan campus today (Dec 4).

He also reflected on UiTM’s journey since its establishment in 1956, stressing its mission to empower Bumiputera development and its evolution into a leading university producing knowledgeable, skilled and competitive professional graduates.

“UiTM Sarawak not only focuses on academic excellence but also strengthens its education system through collaborations with local and international industries.

“For example, programmes such as Embracing Cultural Diversity: Virtual Inbound Outbound Mobility Programme, conducted between the Mukah campus and Rajabhat University in Thailand, offer graduates opportunities to enhance their global experience and competencies.”

On another note, he announced that 1,235 graduates are being celebrated during the convocation ceremony, held over four sessions on Dec 4 and 5.

In the first session, 297 graduates from the Faculty of Business and Management received their bachelor’s degrees and diplomas. This will be followed by 328 graduates in the second session and 307 and 303 graduates in the third and fourth sessions, respectively.

Additionally, 111 graduates will receive the Vice-Chancellor’s Award (ANC) during the convocation.

This includes 25 graduates in the first session, 33 in the second, 24 in the third, and 29 in the fourth session.

The convocation is part of the 100th convocation series, which began from Nov 13 to 28, at the Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor (DATC), UiTM Shah Alam, and will conclude at the Dewan Al-Bukhari, UiTM Sabah, on Dec 11-12.

This year’s convocation holds special significance as it is held in conjunction with the silver jubilee celebration, marking 25 years of UiTM as a university.
