KUCHING: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) handed over business zakat amounting to RM1,982,506.48 for the 2023 financial year to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) in a ceremony witnessed by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The zakat contribution aims to support the asnaf community and other underprivileged Muslims in Sarawak, reflecting the commitment of both institutions in strengthening zakat management and uplifting the socio-economic status of vulnerable groups in the state.
Held as part of a courtesy call, the handover ceremony took place at 10 am today at Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The delegation was led by TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.
Wan Junaidi expressed his hope that the zakat contribution would be effectively utilised to improve the quality of life for the asnaf and B40 groups in Sarawak.
He also commended both organisations for their efforts in reinforcing the zakat institution within the state.
Present at the ceremony were TBS deputy head of operations Mohammad Yusree Mohd Zain, TBS Communications Division representative Huda Diyana Kipli; TH Sabah and Sarawak regional director Datuk Nurlaila Said, and TH Sarawak director Amat Kassim Pait.
