TYT, wife extend condolences to landslide victims

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, have expressed their deepest condolences to the families of victims affected by the landslide in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Miri.

In a statement issued by Astana Negeri Sarawak, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah conveyed their sorrow over the tragedy, which claimed five lives, injured two, and left one person missing.

“I, along with Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, am deeply saddened by the loss of lives in this landslide tragedy.

“Al-Fatihah and heartfelt condolences to all the victims who have left us forever.

“May they be placed among the righteous and the martyrs,” he said.

Furthermore, Wan Junaidi expresses gratitude to the rescue teams and authorities for their tireless efforts in handling the situation.

He also pointed out the critical need for safety among residents living in the hillside and highland areas, calling on authorities to implement proactive measures, including regular safety inspections and continuous monitoring, to safeguard communities and prevent similar tragedies.
