KUCHING: Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has expressed hope that the efforts of the Veterans Affairs Department of the Malaysian Armed Forces (JHEV ATM) would further strengthen its role in safeguarding the welfare of veterans.
He said it is crucial to provide due recognition for the contributions of veterans in maintaining the nation’s peace and prosperity.
In a courtesy visit on Tuesday (Jan 7), Wan Junaidi noted that the department’s work in managing pension payments and providing medical treatment for eligible veterans and their dependents plays an essential role in enhancing their socioeconomic status and welfare.
The visit was attended by a delegation led by JHEV ATM director-general Maj-Gen Datuk Semaon Marjuki, along with several key officials, including his wife Datin Hafzilah Mokmin, deputy director-general Sophian Isswandy Ismail and state representative for Sarawak veterans, Lt-Gen Datuk Stephen Mundaw (Retd).
Wan Junaidi added that these efforts would create a strong foundation to foster better collaboration between the state government and JHEV ATM, contributing to the overall development of a more prosperous community.
