HEAD of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud on Tuesday paid tribute to Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing who died several months ago, describing his passing as a great loss to the state.
He said Sarawak had lost a leader who was people-centric and who always worked for the progress of society, especially in the rural areas.
“His contributions were immense in the progress and development of the state,” said Taib, adding, “his services will be remembered in the state’s political history.”
He paid the glowing tribute when conveying his condolences to the family of the late Masing while delivering his address at the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here.
Masing who was Deputy Chief Minister, passed away in October 2021 at the age of 72, leaving behind his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Corrine and five children.
Also as president of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), a component of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Masing was the long-serving Baleh assemblyman.
Taib also expressed his appreciation and thanks to former assemblypersons who had contributed in their respective constituencies.
