KUCHING: The tradition of open houses and visiting in Sarawak should be maintained as a heritage that unites all Sarawakians.
In his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message, Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said this tradition reflects the unique harmony of the people of Sarawak, strengthening family bonds and friendships, as well as fostering a spirit of tolerance and love between races.
“In the context of Sarawak, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is not just a celebration of overcoming the challenges during the month of Ramadan, but also a symbol of unity and harmony among the multi-ethnic and multi-faith communities.
“In Sarawak, the excitement of Hari Raya is always celebrated with a strong spirit of unity, where people from various backgrounds, races and religions visit each other and strengthen ties of friendship.
“Take this opportunity to forgive each other, strengthen camaraderie, and ignite the spirit of unity in this state,” he said.
In a related development, Wan Junaidi also reminded everyone to always prioritise safety, especially when travelling back to their hometowns for the occasion.
“Drive carefully and with caution, and may we all arrive safely at our destinations and celebrate Raya joyfully,” he said.
He extended his Aidilfitri greetings to all Muslims in Sarawak, regardless of where they are.
“I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to the security personnel, healthcare workers, and everyone on duty during this Hari Raya to ensure the safety and smooth administration of the state and country.
“May this Aidilfitri bring joy, strengthen our brotherhood, and reinforce our unity as a harmonious state,” he said.
