KUCHING: The first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Mar 31) was celebrated in grand style at Astana Negeri as Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi hosted an open house attended by dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the public.
More than 1,000 guests from all backgrounds attended the Hari Raya open house, dressed in their finest traditional attire.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg alongside his wife Datuk Amar Jumaa’ni Tuanku Bujang were among the early attendees, arriving at 10 am after performing the Solat Sunat Aidilfitri at Masjid Jamek Negeri earlier.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.
Warm greetings were exchanged as attendees embraced the spirit of forgiveness and togetherness.
Inside the grand hall, an array of festive delicacies was served, including lemang, ketupat, rendang, and traditional kuih-muih such as kuih lapis and onde-onde.
The air was filled with the soft strains of ghazal music, adding to the joyous atmosphere.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah graciously welcomed guests, taking time to greet each attendee personally.
The event provided an opportunity for the public to meet the state’s leader in a warm and festive setting.
Later, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah proceeded to the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) to attend Abang Johari’s Hari Raya open house celebration.
